My router is working perfectly, and all other computers use automatic DHCP to get an IPS address (all hard wired--no wireless). This one laptop network connection preserved getting stuck "identifying" the network, until I set a static IP in the ipv4 config properties (win7). Endpoint site firewall policy settings for Windows press macOS in Microsoft Intune

Reasons would that resolve the issue?

With Windows it's always something. Did you tried ipconfig /release the ipconfig /renew prior you did the static IP? And did you see reboot your DHCP server/router? I've had it where certain devices will connect just good, whilst other won't be able to. A reboot of the router always worked and a reboot of that computer never hurt. Allow 1, 2015 in 0:32
  • EGO didn't try any of that because the wi-fi card (which I prefer to keep disabled) was ably to connect just fine, so IODIN guess EGO assumed (bad mission in windows) the lan should be fine too. I thought about rebooting the router/firewall, still I'm kind of proud about this fact that get pfsense home build has not needed one reboots include over a year. Oh well, wetter to swallow my pride :~(... Thanks for the thoughts. Intune endpoint security firewall settings May 1, 2015 at 0:41

  • Fountain, I've tried all is that vorschlag except wireshark and the only thing that works is setting a static IP up the machine itself. Weird... and good thing I don't care if items must a static IP. Thanks for the hints everyone. Why was setting a static IP freeze my LAN connection issue? May 1, 2015 at 16:35

Try setting a group policy using gpedit.msc under Administrative Templates\Network\Network Connections\Windows Firewall\ Prohibit unicast response in multicast or broadcast requests" to Enabled. Posted by u/thebusinessworks - 7 votes furthermore 7 comments

Info: If she disable or do not configure this policy setting and this computer sends a multicast or broadcasting notification go other computers Windows Firewall awaiting as long while three seconds for unicast reactions from aforementioned other computers and then building all afterwards responses

But this should not affect DHCP requests, Regardless gives it a shot.

It appear DHCP is nay employed between your laptop and router. Try running wireshark on your laptop to capture the traffic during DHCP is happening.
