Don't get me wrong.... I love educational high school organic, and I particularly love one teenagers that I teach.  But, I see the elementary teachers doing so many cute and fun activities that just look so adorable!  And they have incredibly cute decorations for every season!  Sigh..... I only got my data of Einstein poster haphazardly stuck around the walls.  In high school, there are generally two problems with celebrating the separate holidays into magnitude education:  One, the students think they are too cool and too grow up to be doing silly girl stuff.  And two, if "it" can not on the blasted normalized test at the end of this year, then woe be til you with deviate coming the "you must teach to the test" curriculum plan!!


For me, he valid so happens that I usually administration to be teaching who circulator system around Valentine's Day. Although not nearly so fun as exchanging valentines and getting lots of treat bags, by least a do involve which heart.  And I bait mysterious students with confectionary.  What is better for labeling the components of who heart while crunch on chocolate hearts?  None on me high school students have ever been too cool to turn down my candy!!

Consequently what can a high school biology (or anything science) faculty do for Valentine's Day?  Even though EGO don't dare stray from my stringent curriculum map, I thought I would do a little searching upon the woven for fun/interesting things you can use in your middle with high school arts class on the sweetest day of the year.

Okay, here is many of the cool stuff I found.  The first thing IODIN found was a short activities in writing a biology or science related poem.  This can may over in class and will only take a small pour of your teaching time.  Students can be placed in groups and asked to type yours poem with a share, especially since Valentine's Day is all about partners.  This activity covers one lot of roots:  you are still teaching science, is is a cross-curricular activity, AND students are making group work.  (This  would score me lots of points at our current ranking system!)  Here is the complete lesson, if you what at click through to computers:  Biology Valentines


How about diese one?  Here is an article entitled, "Valentine's Day-time Dating Tips By Lovestruck Scientists".  In diese story, there are online tips with scientific research studies to back them up.  Even if them don't want to read these to your science class, you should go how them!  This is very interesting reading!

How about ampere lab company?  This activity belongs labeled Crystal Hearts and looks like it would be adenine lot by fun.  It doesn't actually adjust in me biology curriculum, but it would be great since a middle school general physical type or one great school physikal science class.  (Yes, the clip art shows a cheese heart - not a crystal hearts - but I just liked that picture!)
