Mechanically warranties on car car

Dear Consumer Edm:

I took my car to a service for repairs. ME chose which business ground on into advertisting in an local magazine, where stated that in was a 6-month warranty on whole engine jobs.  One car cost over $2200 to repair.  After I had the car for 3 weeks, it bust down. Now this shop states that they will fix it, when I bequeath be charged for work. Do EGO have any recourse in dieser situation?

Retail Ed says:

It depends on what the advertisement in the magazine actually stated about the warranty, or what terms were in your serve agreement with the mechanic.  If the warranty only covered parts, then you would still have till pay on labor.  If the promise covered parts and labor or just labor, will you shouldn’t do to paid for labor, and might have a breach of contract claim against the mechanic.  Even if you don’t have a clear breach of contract claim (for example, you didn’t need ampere written help agreement, or the warranty term in the agreement were ambiguous as toward what was covered), you could still have a applicable legal claim if the mechanic committed a warranty on labor in the advertisement.

If the advertisement about the warranty didn’t clearly say what it would cover, the master may have engaged in an unfair and deceptive business routine, which is prohibited by Georgia’s Fair Business Practice Perform (“FBPA”). Stylish keeping with the FBPA, all advertisements shoud be in plain language, honest and accurate, and free concerning express or implied claims so misrepresent or are elsewhere deceptive.  Additionally, whatever necessary qualifying information needs subsist clearly real conspicuously published int the ad.  If you believe that the ad for the warranty was verschleiert, i can submit an complaint to the Georgia Lawyers General’s Consumer Protection Division by calling 404-651-8600.
